Description

Visible as orange lirellae immersed in host thallus, unbranched to branched; MICROSCOPY: spores 4-celled, one end cell enlarged; CHEMISTRY: lirellae K+ magenta; FIELD ID: smaller rusty-orange lirellae interspersed with Graphis lirellae

Similar Species

None, though Trentepohlia algae growing on top of Graphis are frequent, & if growing in cracks can resemble orange lirellae; the alga is paler & appears granular or short-filamentous
