Whitish thallus with broad, dark lirellae, some covered with scurfy whitish material; MICROSCOPY: spores colorless, muriform, up to 70 x 30 µm, hymenium inspersed; FIELD ID: some thalli are similar in appearance to "blot" commas, others not; must be dissected to observe spores
