Description

Pale thallus with small, black disks fairly flat with smooth margins; MICROSCOPY: colorless spores with 13-21 cells, 47-90 µm long; FIELD ID: dissection is required to sort out black-dot lichens on bark

Similar Species

Baculifera, Buellia & Cratiria species have brown spores with 2-4 cells; other Bactrospora species also have colorless spores, B. carolinensis spores with up to 10 cells & up to 50 µm long, & B. brevispora much shorter spores
