Green primary thallus of small squamules edged with powdery soralia, a well-developed thallus appearing as a mass of soredia; esorediate podetia about 2-4 mm tall, unbranched, with red apothecia; CHEMISTRY: thallus KC+ gold (usnic acid), UV+ blue-white (squamatic acid); FIELD ID possible with careful observation & field UV test
