Description

Endolithic thallus showing as white or pale green-gray; semi-immersed to superficial round black disk up to 0.4 mm in diameter, with thin rim, rough surface of disk; MICROSCOPY: spores colorless, simple, halonate, 8/ascus, about 17-26 x 6-11 µm; FIELD ID:  dissection required

Other buttons in Ga. with thin or disappearing thalli on calcareous rock include Bacidia coprodes, Bacidina egenula & Catillaria lenticularis; Clauzadea chrondrodes has not been recorded in Ga., but its spores are smaller
