Description

Brown (dry) or dark green (wet) thallus crowded with overlapping lobes 2-8 mm in width, stippled with dark ostioles of imbedded perithecia; lower surface black, smooth; multiple holdfasts attach lobes to rock; FIELD ID possible with experience, with habitat a clue

Similar Species

Other Dermatocarpon species have larger or longer lobes; D. muhlenbergii is the only species in Ga. found on calcareous rock
