Pale blue-green thallus of tangled, slightly glossy filaments, often visible as a small mat, sometimes dark (almost black, perhaps when dry); MICROSCOPY: green-blue filaments of photobiont entirely encased in fungal sheath; FIELD ID: requires careful study, possible dissection & examination by specialist
