Other sorediate Heterodermia species, e.g., H. galactophylla, with ecorticate undersides have soralia on undersides of reflexed lobe tips & lack erect lobes at thallus center; that species is also more delicate, with long, pale rhizines
Heterodermia appalachensis, H. crocea
