Pale green thallus smooth to verrucose; disks ranging from pale tan to dark brown, with variable beaded rims; disks fairly small, 0.5-1 mm in diameter; CHEMISTRY: thallus K+ yellow; MICROSCOPY: upper hymenium inspersed with fine crystals between paraphyses, amphithecium with large crystals; FIELD ID: dissection & chemical tests needed to confirm ID
Other bark Lecanora with brown disks, including: L. chlarotera usually has puffy white rims (especially when young), lightly dusted apothecia, & lacks fine crystals in upper hymenium; L. cinereofusca has PD+ orange disks; L. louisianae has C+ orange disks; L. allophana also lacks fine crystals in upper hymenium & has small crystals in amphithecium
