Pale green thallus entirely coarsely sorediate; white fibrous prothallus conspicuous, though sometimes patchy; CHEMISTRY: thallus K+ yellow, KC+ gold (atranorin, usnic acid); FIELD ID: best sorted in lab with careful examination & chemical tests, due to similarity with other sterile sorediate crusts
