Foliose thallus dark green & gelatinous when wet, blue-gray, stiff & opaque when dry, both above & below; lobe surfaces unwrinkled & without isidia; chestnut-colored apothecia common, with blue-gray rims; FIELD ID: some specimens have sparse apothecia, but check carefully for lack of isidia
