Description

Bright pink, translucent, ellipsoid fruiting bodies, often in groups, indicate presence; sometimes semi-immersed in host thallus, or barely visible through cracks or openings, but more often seen as oblongs lying prostrate on the surface of the host; sometimes kills host

Similar Species

Ovicuculispora parmeliae is another pink-fruited lichenicolous fungus, but its fruiting bodies are fuzzy pale pink with a darker pink-orange ostiole on the end; they are more spherical & upright than oblong & prostrate
