Pale greenish-white, continuous thallus lumpy; apothecia within lumpy, pitted warts with dark ostiole at summit; MICROSCOPY: spores ellipsoid, colorless, simple, 8/ascus; CHEMISTRY: medulla K-, PD+ orange-red (virensic acid), cortex KC+ orange, C+ yellow, UV+ orange (theophanic acid); FIELD ID not possible, dissection & chemical tests required to ID
