Physciella chloantha has soralia within lobe tips, lip-shaped; Physcia species all have K+ yellow cortex; rare Phaeophyscia insignis also has K- upper cortex, laminal soralia & pale undersides, but it has flat lobes & a marginal fringe of cilia & rhizines
