Description

Pale gray-tan thallus with solitary small (0.3-0.5 mm in diameter) black perithecia, obscured by thin veil of thalline covering (variable in thickness); ostioles apical; MICROSCOPY: hymenium clear (not inspersed with oil droplets), spores brown, 4-celled, with a layer of endospore between 2 terminal cells & cell walls at spore tips (most visible on mature spores with angular lumina), spores about 17.5-20 x 8-9 µm; FIELD ID: dissection recommended
