Description

Brownish, obscure thallus with many small, sometimes crowded disks; disks black to dark brown with strongly contrasting white rims, at same level as disk; MICROSCOPY: spores colorless, mostly 6-celled, 8/ascus; FIELD ID: with a little experience, unmistakable, but see Similar Species

Byssoloma species have a green thallus & fuzzy rims, & prefer smooth bark
