Description

Whitish to gray thallus continuous, lumpy, lifting off substrate, with small, scattered networks of branched lirellae visible only as fine, dark cracks in thallus; MICROSCOPY: exciple not evident, epihymenium orange to red-brown, spores 4-celled, about 15-20 x 5 µm; CHEMISTRY: PD+ bright yellow (psoromic acid); FIELD ID: general aspect of lirellae is unmistakable with experience (difficult to obtain in Ga.); best confirmed with dissection & chemical test
