Description

Pale green to whitish, continuous thallus with a crusty, crystalline appearance; lirellae in radiating groupings, erupting through the thallus; raised white ridges edge a reddish-brown, longitudinally striate, concave disk; outer edges of margins often edged with cracks in thallus; margins sometimes closing over and obscuring disk; MICROSCOPY: exciple not carbonized (reddish-brown), hymenium clear, spores colorless, about 8/ascus, submuriform (some septate), cells lens-shaped, 6-8 x 1-2, spores about 18-20 x 7-8 µm; CHEMISTRY: thallus UV+ yellow (patchy); FIELD ID possible with experience & field UV test
