Description

Thallus obscure, within substrate; perithecia globose, about 0.1-0.3 mm in diameter, yellowish to buff, often colored gray to black except for a yellow ring around the ostiole; perithecia partly exposed, to entirely immersed with little more than ostiole showing; ostioles at apex or eccentric; MICROSCOPY: spores many/ascus, colorless, simple; FIELD ID: requires dissection
