Dark gray to black, shrubby thallus of strap-shaped lobes, 0.3-1.5 mm wide, with thickened, paler margins or tips, lobe surfaces rough, matte; lobes sometimes arching away from substrate; apothecia not seen; FIELD ID: unmistakable
