Description

Minute green thallus, patches from about 0.5 mm in diameter sometimes merging into larger thalli several mm across; erect black setae abundant, interspersed with shorter hyphophores broadened into blades near the top; apothecia not seen; FIELD ID possible, but best examined under dissecting scope to see minute structures

Mesic/hydric pine flatwoods, maritime forest & xeric sandhills, on fronds of Serrenoa repens; 1 record on evergreen Quercus leaves (and seen on other evergreen leaves outside Ga.)
